30th June - 2nd July :
Bernadette Thomas, Olivier La Vergnas and Jonathan Kaplan participated at the annual meeting of Arbor & Sens called Palabres. The meeting took place in the little southern town of Mèze (France) on the shorefront of the the saltwater lake of Thau. The three day meeting, from june 30 to july 2, 2006, had people invested in the use of Trees of Knowledge exchange on the basis of their experience. The meeting gathered 25 people out of which half were present at the October 2005 seminar in Paris. All participants are involved in projects built on the use of See-K, many of which are financed in the framework of Equal. The projects involve participants in many different contexts, such as APPs, high-schools and RERS'. Reference to SCATE was made often. As a matter of fact the first day was spent mostly talking about SCATE. SCATE has truly become a means for cross-exchanges between the networks involved in empowerment. The dynamics that this has created, centered on the notion of empowerment, are constantly fueling ideas and joint efforts to support activities of members of the networks. See-K, as a tool, has been given some attention, but mostly the approach has been founded on valorising personal knowledge or know-how on the basis of Trees of Knowledge concepts. Information about the Trees of Knowledge and Study Circles handbooks was given. Several participants are hoping to receive copies of these publications. We are expecting to start
distribution in September 2006. |
